 Greek Students visit VGT
|
On 17th March 2008, VGT play host to a group of around 90 Greek Students. Hailing from the University of Piraeus, Department of Maritime Studies, the students were accompanied by Professor Ernestos S. Tzannatos PhD. CEng,MIMarEst and Mr. Vassilios Koutsikos as representative of the Greek Embassy in Malta.
The visit lasted around two hours. Mr. Koutsikos gave a brief introduction to the students and thereafter Doreen Curmi, Business Development Executive gave a presentation on the role and function of VGT within the Grand Harbour to the students. This was followed by a question and answer session during which Matthew Pace Bonello, Operations Officer and Doreen replied to matters regarding the environment, health and safety and Malta’s position in the Mediterranean vis-à-vis the Port of Pireaus.
After the presentation, the students were offered refreshments and could also walk onto the Head Office veranda where they could view the terminal at Deep Water Quay.
